Lewinsohn Winery was established in 2007 by Ido Lewinsohn,l

.ltogether with his father Amnon

Ido is a Master of Wine, the highest possible recognition of professional knowledge and expertise in the world of wine. Candidates are required to successfully complete the most stringent wine tasting tests held anywhere and only the most successful earn to right to use the initials MW. The MW qualification has been awarded in London since 1955 to a small number of wine professionals each year. Today, there are only about 100 MW’s who are winemakers worldwide.l

During Ido's journey to this prestigious title, his character as a winemaker and the unique character of the wine took shape. Ido visited countless wine regions and tasted thousands of wines that gave him direction and inspiration, amongst other things for "whole cluster wines". Lewinsohn Winery was the pioneer in Israel of this style of wine.l

It is an ancient wine production technique in which the whole clusters

are fermented (without separating the stems).l

Today, Lewinsohn Winery produces wine that is a blend of quality local Israeli fruit, combined with the influences, wine experiences and people he has met in his travels around the wine world. The winery team includes Ido, his father Amnon, and Stas Feldbein, associate winemaker for quite a few years. A deep love of food and wine is rooted in the Lewinsohn family and runs through the veins of the siblings. Dovev, Ido's brother, and his brother-in-law Yaki Boneh are the owners of the Nono, Mimi and Giraffe restaurant group, and his sister Yarden manages the winery's visitors’ center.l

The vineyards of Lewinsohn Winery are located in the finest wine regions, offering the best terroir. This includes the soil, the microclimate and last but not least, the people! The expert wine growers grow high quality grapes on the volcanic plateau of the Golan in the north, at Tzuba in the Judean Hills and in Ella Valley (Givat Yeshayahu) in the Judean Foothills.lin

Our Wines

Lewinsohn wines have always been sold in the best restaurants in the country. The label is called "Garage de Papa" named after Ido’s father’s garage at the family home, where they made the first four barrels in 2007. Under the Garage de Papa label, there are three wines produced: white, rosé and red.l

In the best vintages, the winery makes a rare, special edition Whole Cluster wine. This entails using an age-old technique in which the berries are not separated from the stems at all, and the whole cluster is fully fermented. The first vintage of this wine was in 2014 and it was the pioneering wine in Israel in this style.l

Lewinsohn Winery moved to its new home in 2023, allowing it to receive visitors for the first time. Today production is about 40,000 bottles a year which are sold at the winery, in restaurants, specialist wine shops and in several markets abroad.l

Lewinsohn Around The World

Lewinsohn Winery is part of the global village of the wine world and the team love to travel, eat good food and especially drink fine wines. Ido is an international wine consultant and visits many wine regions. He engages in collaborations between Lewinsohn Winery and various wineries in Europe. In addition, the winery participates in the important Israel-Germany Twin Wineries Project, to share knowledge and camaraderie between wineries. Our twin is none other than the highly prestige JJ Prüm from the Mosel region, a winery considered by many, to be the finest in Germany.l
